3 Objectives of the field work for this study

From November 1987 till February 1988 I was in Niger and my investigation was based on the following objectives:

  1. The growth of children was to be investigated from the viewpoint of available anthropometric data in order to get an indication of the state of nutrition with the population in Chikal. Go to methods.

  2. As a base for the dietary investigation, the supply of food was to be investigated: What is being produced in the area, when is it produced and by whom? What can be bought (markets/shops) and what can be collected from wild plants or by hunting etc.? Go to methods.

  3. Food patterns were to be studied through a 24 h-recall investigation, either on individuals or on households in common. During the run of the investigation a question arose as to what kind of stove was used for the cooking. Go to methods.

  4. The rural development project Projet Tapis Vert was to be studied from the nutritional point of view. A nutritional analysis was to be made starting from objectives and activities of the project. To see whether or how well the activities had succeeded, persons in touch with the activities were to be interviewed. Go to methods.
